The Buenos Aires team decided not to attend the Super League Cup match against Atlético Tucumn due to the outbreak of coronavirus

The gymnastics and fencing coach La Plata, Diego Armando Maradona, publicly supported River Plate after the decision not to appear in the Super League Cup match against Atlético Tucumn due to the threat of the coronavirus outbreak, a position that the 'fluff' banking “to die”.

“Look, the 'chickens' are not going for me, but I bank them to die. If the players made that decision, I will bank them to die,” Maradona reiterated on ESPN's microphones. “We must protect the health of members, employees and the thousands of people who come to stadiums,” added Maradona.

Despite having played for Boca Juniors, River's eternal rival, Maradona made his support clear. The world champion with Argentina played in two stages with the Xeneizes, from 1981 to 1982, and from 1995 to 1998, before confirming his withdrawal from the field of play.

The decision made by River Plate could lead to a sanction, since both the Argentine Government and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) had decided that the competition should be held behind closed doors, in no case the suspension of the match.
