Nemanja Matic (31 years old) will continue at Manchester United until 2023. The English club announced on Monday the renewal of the Serbian midfielder for three more seasons. The player, arrived in 2017, had the option of extending his contract for one more season, however the ‘red devils’ wanted to ensure his continuity and offer him another three more years.
“I am very happy to continue being part of this great club. As a player, I still have much more to give and achieve in my career and doing that with Manchester United will be a great honor, ”said the veteran footballer in statements to the official Manchester United media.
“It is a really exciting team to be part of, we have a good balance of youth and experience within the team and there is great camaraderie among the group. This is a key part of the season and we are playing well. We will continue to fight to finish the season on top and make our incredible fans proud, “said Matic.
For his part, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has commented that he is “delighted that Nemanja has signed a new contract, I know that his experience, professionalism and leadership will be invaluable for this group of young talents.”
“We have great strength in midfield and Nemanja's attributes are a key part of that. Nemanja has been here for three seasons and really understands the values of playing for Manchester United. He remains enormously ambitious and determined, which will be vital to achieve our goals in the years to come, “added the Norwegian coach.
Since his arrival in 2017, Matic has participated in 114 matches with Manchester United, although since the signing of Bruno Fernandes his participation has greatly decreased.
