The rookie will seek the title at home together with Benfica, Anderlecht and Sporting CP
MADRID, 9 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Mallorca Palma Futsal will host the ‘Final 4’ of the Futsal Champions League, on May 5 and 7, after the designation this Thursday of the Velòdrom Illes Balears as the venue for the final phase of the continental season.
UEFA announced the choice of the venue where the four teams that won the mini-tournaments of the elite round in November will face each other: Palma (debutant), Benfica, Sporting Anderlecht, who eliminated champion Barça, and Sporting CP.
“The date and place of the draw will be confirmed shortly,” UEFA added. The Velòdrom Illes Balears, with a capacity for 6,600 spectators, was the headquarters of Palma Futsal from 2010 to 2014, and was inaugurated in 2006.
Palma de Mallorca will be the sixth different Spanish venue since the introduction of the final phase to four in 2007, after Murcia in that year and Lleida (2012), Guadalajara (2016), Zaragoza (2018) and Barcelona (2020). From the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) they highlighted the work of its president, Luis Rubiales, in the UEFA decision.
“Luis Rubiales has carried out the management, intensifying contacts with UEFA in the last 48 hours, and the highest body of European football has finally awarded the event to the Balearic capital despite the fact that many other venues were interested,” says the note from the RFEF.
