Malaga put on a good face despite the FIFA slap

Malaga has already set to work to redirect the severe sanction, imposed by FIFA, which prevents it from signing for three windows until the summer of 2023. The reason is a complaint filed by his former goalkeeper, the Turkish Cenk Gönen, who claimed 780,000 euros. The club must also assume another 80,000 euros in interest.

Málaga’s lawyer, Alberto Ruiz Hustado, is finalizing the appeal to the highest body in world football. In his defense, the club alleges that the FIFA communiqués reached three unofficial club emails and were no longer in use, two for administration and the third for legal advice. Not by burofax. So the writing is done to see if it is possible to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Málaga will pay the amount claimed by Gönen and will present the appeal. With this movement the punishment will be lifted and will be able to sign footballers in the winter market. The problem is that right now it does not have that liquid pending that next Friday the LaLiga Assembly approves the agreement with CVC. José María Muñoz himself will attend this meeting as Malaguista representation.

Assuming that the amount of the complaint is satisfied and that FIFA revokes the sanction, another question remains. Will Malaga have money to bring players? From the judicial administration it is considered that there should be no problems in this regard and that it will be possible to sign.

Despite this blow, Málaga has tried to maintain institutional normality. A delegation headed by José María Muñoz himself and of which Alberto Escassi, Óscar Talavera (Málaga Genuine player) and Silvia Mérida (Málaga Women’s) made an official tour of the ‘Feria Sabor a Málaga which is held every years in the city center where it is intended to show the quality of the gastronomic products of the Costa del Sol. Muñoz transmitted an image of calm that the entity needs to correct this setback that it did not have.
