Madrid's third defeat in just 10 league games (the same as in all of last season) began to unfold with a maximum penalty. The fifth in the last three days. One piece of information, which according to MisterChip, is repeated “for the third time in the entire history of the League: it also happened in the 1949-50 and 2002-03 seasons. The record of any club is in four consecutive dates with penalties ”. And it is that Madrid goes hand in hand. And what is worse: within the area. Of the last seven goals that the whites have conceded, five have come from the penalty spot. The other two were errors by Madrid footballers: an own goal by Varane in Valencia, and another by Courtois that allowed Joselu to beat the white goal at the beginning of the second half, making a comeback by Zidane's men practically impossible.
The negative streak began in Valencia. After winning with a goal from Benzema, a cross was intercepted by Lucas Vázquez with his hands. Gil Manzano, well placed, had no doubts to point out the corresponding infraction. After Carlos Soler launched and Courtois stopped the launch, the referee ordered the shot to be repeated since Lucas himself and the Valencian Yunus entered before time. It meant the tying goal of the Valencian team.
In that same match, the Extremaduran referee pointed out two more penalties in the Madrid area: in the 51st minute, Marcelo knocked down Maxi Gómez, although it gave the feeling that the Uruguayan tank was the one that was needed over the Brazilian. Eight minutes later (minute 59), SErgio Ramos hit the ball with his hand in a fight with Yunus. It was the first time that Madrid had been awarded three penalties in the same game. Two of them for individual infractions with the hands within the area.
The following day, the whites saw how Villarreal managed to draw and take two points in the final stretch of the match through another launch from 11 meters. This time it was Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who knocked down Chukwueze when it had surpassed him. Gerard Moreno converted his pitch.
The same thing happened against Alavés: the first goal from Alava came after a shot that touched Nacho's shoulder-arm. For Iturralde González, it was clear: “Nacho jumps with his arm, making himself big and the referee is very well positioned. It's a penalty ”. The fifth that they have indicated in the last three days. Next week, against Sevilla, he can match a negative record: four days in a row with a penalty designated against, a record that Mallorca has had for 17 years …
