Madrid follow David Carmo, Portuguese central Braga

Real Madrid continues to comb the market in search of a guarantee center that can replace Ramos's departure if the captain does not finally renew. The white club has always been attentive to the Portuguese market (that's where Militao came from for 50 million at 21 years old). Now, as AS has learned, the club's scouts have passed very positive reports from David Carmo, Braga's Portuguese central defender, also 21 years old, a physical marvel who measures 1.96. Carmo was very close to being sold on the last day of the last winter market to Liverpool, which was trying to make up for the loss of Van Dijk. But, sources that participated in the negotiation point to this newspaper, the business did not close for five million: Braga wanted four million for the transfer with a mandatory purchase option in summer of 25 million and Liverpool, only came to offer 20 .

There are more important teams that haunt this promising center-back who is on Madrid's agenda for the immediate future. The Rome he wanted to take it with him last summer, when Carmo was 20 years old, and he came to offer 18 million. But al Braga, aware of the interest of other greats such as United, they seemed insufficient. Carmo has a contract until 2025 and a unilateral termination clause of 40 million. Despite his youth, Carmo already has 30 games in the Portuguese League and 6 in the Europa League.

Carmo has lived on a kind of emotional roller coaster in recent days. From being one step away from going to Liverpool, he has gone on to be seriously injured. A week ago he broke a bone in his right foot, he underwent surgery and will be out for three months. In no case an inconvenience for the plans that Madrid could have with the player, since he will be fully re-established for next summer. Carmo is today one of the centers with the best poster in Portuguese football, a future player of the senior team after having been a regular in the different lower categories.

If Real Madrid decided to take the step to sign him (his price would be around 25 million euros, half of what Militao cost, which came from Porto), the white entity will be very well positioned in any negotiation. The president of Braga, Antonio Salvador, boasts of having a very good relationship with Florentino Pérez after a few years ago both entities reached an agreement for the transfer of youth squad Sarabia who, finally, refused to play in the Portuguese League to go to Getafe. Braga would give Madrid top priority, therefore, if there was an auction for the player.
