Lyon put a stop to Monaco’s climb (2-0)

A penalty converted by Cameroonian Karl Toko Ekambi a quarter of an hour from the end turned the match in favor of Lyon (2-0) at the Groupama Stadium against Monaco who saw their climb slowed in Ligue 1.

The Monegasque team, rival of Real Sociedad in the Europa League, faced the duel driven by three consecutive victories and the possibility of settling in the European places.

Push and higher ambition

However, he was overtaken by the drive and the greatest ambition of his rival, who had the best chances and found himself with the victory after two straight draws.

The game was tilted in favor of the home team of the Dutch Peter Bosz on a penalty committed by Axel Disasi in the 75th minute. The Cameroonian Ekambi did not miss from eleven meters and beat Alexander Nübel.

Monaco Niko Kovac looked for the reaction but without order. Ismail Jakobs and Felix Lemarechal entering the field did not solve anything. On the contrary, in added time, Jason Denayer secured the local victory after receiving a ball from Emerson Palmieri.

Lyon were provisionally placed in European positions. It is fifth and moves Monaco away from the area, which falls to seventh place two points behind.
