Luis Suárez celebrates 35 years with the future to be defined

Luis Suárez started the week in style. After Atlético’s epic comeback against Valencia, the striker celebrated his 35th birthday before heading to the concentration of the Uruguayan team, since this break does affect South American players. The striker returned to play a full match with Atlético for the first time since October 24 (against Real Sociedad), although he could not get out of a drought that has lasted in the League since the match against Valencia… in the first round (November 7). Since then, he has participated in 13 games and has only managed to score in the Cup against Rayo Majadahonda.

Suárez signed for two seasons with Atlético in the summer of 2020 after a turbulent departure from Barcelona and faces the last months of his contract with Atlético (ends June 30). At the moment there has been no approach for a renewal, so he could already sign with any other club and offers from different countries are arriving at his door (United States, England, Asia…). Simeone preferred not to moajrse in the run-up to the last League duel, when asked if he advocates its continuity. “It’s a trick question. We lived it years ago with Torres and I am not going to enter. I spoke with him, with the club and I only think about Valencia”.

Suárez has the confidence of Cholo, although he has lost presence in the elevens. His first season at the club was fantastic, with 21 fundamental goals for the League title and with a direct impact on 21 points. A year for which he will always be grateful at the club, although now it is costing him more to be decisive in the final meters. Atlético is building less football, it is difficult for them to generate chances near the rival area and when they come to Suárez, he is not as successful as a year ago. Correa has equaled him as the top scorer of the course (9) and With a squeeze to take minutes. After the break, the Camp Nou awaits, the stadium where Suárez lived great nights. But, on his birthday, the striker is focused on achieving his goals with Uruguay and later set his sights on finishing the season in the best way with Atleti.
