Luis García: “We have two or three more signings left”

Luis García, coach of Mallorca, said this Friday that he trusts his players to face the next season in the Santander League with guarantees: “We are going to give war and a scare to some team,” said the Mallorcan coach in the first round of telematic press of the course. “The dynamics will be different (to the one of the last League in Second). This year we will lose more games, it is logical. A point will be a triumph for us and the three of us, a great victory. Let's see, I trust mine to fight, we are going to go one hundred percent and we are going to scare a team, ”Garcia predicted.

The Madrid coach, who on his return to Spanish football after his time in China and Saudi Arabia achieved direct promotion to Primera with Mallorca, admitted that competing in LaLiga “will be tough.” “There are six or seven teams with very high budgets, we have to accept it, but we will fight. With Levante we added 45 points to save ourselves (2010-2011 season), although normally 42 will be needed; with 40 points it is descent or save in a hurry. For now, I am only considering the match (first of the championship) against Betis ”, explained García.

Mallorca have signed five players – Slovakian goalkeeper Dominik Greif, forwards Ángel Rodríguez and Amath Ndiaye and defenders Pablo Maffeo and Jaume Costa – and have transferred full-back Fran Gámez to Real Zaragoza. “There are (to be signed) two minimums, or three. Among them, a sure striker because I like to have three and for now I only have Abdon (Prats) and Ángel. (Daniel) Sturridge is training with us and after a period we will see if he continues or not; he is a player who was 'top' but has been standing still, ”said the vermilion coach. In addition, he has not ruled out the departure of Oliván or Cufré after the arrival of Jaume Costa. “Some may come out or stay for their versatility,” he commented.

Regarding the situation of 16-year-old Mexican-Argentine youth squad Luka Romero, who still hasn't signed his first professional contract with Mallorca, García was resounding: “I don't know where he is, he's not still linked to us. They made him an offer and he didn't accept it; he is free to go wherever he wants ”, he specified. Mallorca will play the first friendly of the preseason against Poblense on Sunday before traveling to La Nucía (Alicante) where they will carry out the bulk of the concentration. The Balearic team plans to face Cartagena, UD Ibiza, Besiktas, Stade Brest and Huesca before playing Cagliari for the Ciutat de Palma Trophy. García advanced that “many” will be taken to La Nucía, especially “people from the subsidiary” for the three players “who have had covid-19, and for three others who, despite not having it, have had to be isolated by having had contacts with positives ”, he pointed out. “There are also (footballers) with whom I do not count,” he added, “and who will not go to the 'stage.' They already know it, also their environment and their agents. The best thing for them is that they go out because a footballer should always feel important in a team and hopefully sooner rather than later they will find a place ”.
