The Madrid Fashion Week revealed on Saturday night the best kept secret for the 6,500 employees that Iberia has on board their planes and on the ground: their new uniforms. The airline organized a parade in style, which also served to breastfeed for its commitment to Spanish culture and for the still president of the group, Luis Gallego, to say goodbye to the staff. And, as explained by the future CEO of IAG, the collaboration of all staff “has been key” to achieve the transformation of Iberia, which has gone from losing almost one million euros a day between 2012 and 2013 to earn money .
The new uniforms of the TCP and the Iberia land personnel represent a new milestone in the metamorphosis process of the company at a time when the commercial and client general manager, Marco Sansavini, will take the reins of Vueling.
Thus, the company has chosen the designer Teresa Helbig to give a new air to the style of the crew, one of the letters of introduction of any airline, after having transformed all the planes inside with a more modern product and having changed the image and logo, which finally lost the royal crown. Helbig takes over from Adolfo Domínguez who was in charge of changing uniforms several years ago and ending the traditional mustard tube skirt of the TCP.
The new uniform follows the wake of the blue night chosen by Adolfo Dominguez a bit but adds details and accessories that would fit in any closet. The jewels of the new collection are the women's red bag, the matching gloves and the dress, with Iberia red details on the waist and back as well as opening on the sides of the straight skirt.
Another change is the shirts, without buttons and with a neck more in line with the new fashions, and the shoes since, in addition to the traditional heels, they have introduced sports. There are also red jerseys for earth and blue, red and yellow scarves, as well as vests for shelter inside. Thus, the Iberia red gains weight in this new collection, at a time when the company seeks to enhance the identity of its brands before rethinking a reorganization of them after the purchase of Air Europa and the creation of Level.
For the release of the new uniforms, Iberia decided to surround itself with a part of its employees, authorities such as the Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto, who was on the spot, and journalists in the sector. Marta Álvarez, the president of El Corte Inglés, who has accompanied Iberia on her adventure to China, a country where they have been forced to cancel flights by the coronavirus, also attended the appointment.
To choose the employees invited to the parade, Iberia organized a raffle and then Luis Gallego took the opportunity to give a farewell speech, in which he showed his pride for a job well done. Gallego lived his moments of rock star since he was required more than a dozen times to take pictures with the attendees during the cocktail held afterwards. The future CEO of IAG will move to London at the end of March.
