Lugo and UD Las Palmas neutralized each other with a set piece (1-1) in a match that the locals finished with nine due to the expulsion of Manu Barreiro at 79 minutes and the injury of the Panamanian 'Puma' Rodríguez, who had reappeared as alternate after a month off.
Las Palmas, after their epic comeback against Sporting (3-2), did not allow scoring minutes at the Anxo Carro. In the first, he generated a corner kick and a shot from Fabio. In the second, another corner that walked in front of Cantero's goal did not find a finisher.
Lugo responded with direct football and vertigo transitions, especially on the right wing, where midfielder Iriome González acted as a winger and Gerard Valentín, who also passed through that position in his career, was extreme. The former Deportivo player was a toothache for Brazilian Jonathan.
Valentín, ostracized in his time as a Blue and Whites, which began precisely with the current Las Palmas coach, Pepe Mel, took the penalty from the Canarian side at eleven minutes in his second attack appearance. Manu Barreiro transformed him with his usual cold blood.
Las Palmas also gave him the reply from a set piece, with a long free kick that Loiodice converted with a direct shot that nobody expected, least of all the Lugo goalkeeper. The ball took effect and, with that stranger, he beat Cantero through the center of the goal at 19 minutes.
Lugo was left at a disadvantage in the final stretch of the crash due to the expulsion of Manu Barreiro, who saw a direct red for an involuntary but forceful stomp on Kirian's right ankle, who had to request the change moments later.
Far from reinforcing the rear, the rojiblanco coach, Mehdi Nafti, opted for the entry of a forward (Carrillo for midfielder Hugo Rama) to refresh the attack in the last ten minutes, in which he found another problem: the Panamanian Puma Rodríguez, who reappeared after a muscle injury, noticed discomfort and his team, in practice, was left with nine.
Lugo resisted in the throes of the crash, which had little effective play because the interruptions were a constant, and kept the point against Las Palmas, which sought the victory until the final whistle.
