Lucas Torró: “Every day I feel better”

The Osasuna player Lucas Torró ensures that every time you feel “better” after forgetting your injuries, thus recovering his best level in the last days in which his team has left behind the bad dynamics that it dragged for several weeks.

Osasuna has won three of the last four league games, one “Very good trend”, which is accompanied by the “great” feeling of “competing in every game. Now that bit of luck is accompanying us ”.

In an interview with Efe, the soccer player believes that, “when you are in a bad inertia it is more difficult to get out of it and easier to lose, and vice versa. The confidence in ourselves and putting good results on track paves the way to go out and win ”.

Of the streak of 13 consecutive days without knowing the victory that Osasuna accumulated, Torró assures that it was “difficult” to reverse it, and that, thanks to the trust them pampering and in their coach, Jagoba Arrasate, they were clear that they could soon redirect the situation: “in the end we were able to turn it around and now we have the illusion of prolonging this good moment, always with the goal of salvation in mind.”

“Maybe that the best is yet to come, but it cannot be denied that we are now on a roll. The results speak, and we hope to withstand the pressure on Monday against Sevilla, a very complicated rival “, he thinks about the state of the team and its ability to improve,” step by step and with our feet on the ground “, reach the end goal.

“We have been through bad times; We know what it's like to be down there, and it was screwed up. We cannot relax and we have to improve the records of the first lap ”, he adds.

He returned to Pamplona this summer, from Eintracht Frankfurt after paying 2,000,000 euros after two seasons in Germany in which he could not find his football due to the continuous injuries that haunted him in the Bundesliga.

“The interest came from before. I really wanted to go back and the perfect moment was this year, with the Centennial and the team settling in First Division”, The Cocentaina man explains about his departure from the previous club, which at all times facilitated the process.

“I received some other offer, but I I always wanted to come here. I had not enjoyed the necessary continuity that I achieved here before leaving for Germany for several years, ”says the Madrid youth squad who seeks to“ repeat ”the good stage he experienced in Segunda with the rojillo team in the 2017/2018 season.

With his signing for Osasuna in August 2020, Torró decided to return with the aim of “Grow up and feel like a footballer again”, and the priority of returning to the place where he felt “comfortable” with some colleagues whom he already knew well, so it did not involve “any effort” to adapt.

After signing a contract until June 30, 2024, Torró indicates that Osasuna continues to be the same club that he knew, and highlights the “spectacular” reform of El Sadar, which really “impresses” and undoubtedly represents the “greatness” of an entity.

The 26-year-old player highlights the project that the club chaired by Luis Sabalza is betting on: “If he manages to stay in the First Division and is committed to him in a sustained way, the result will be very positive for all”.

He regrets not being able to count on his fans this season: “It is difficult for the teams that come, because the red swollen squeeze a lot. We want to achieve salvation so that we can celebrate it with all of them next year ”.

This is the first campaign in which his boss is Jagoba Arrasate, a technician who has taught him to “change; I traditionally came from occupying the positional midfielder space, and he encouraged me to be more dynamic. I appreciate it and I take it as something positive, because I want to learn ”.

The Basque coach changed the 4-4-2 scheme to 4-3-3 with Torró as the team's anchor: “in that position I find myself more comfortable. Throughout my career I have played in front of the center-backs, giving balance in the game and in the exit of the ball ”.

“It's surprising”, he thinks about the progression of his partner Jon moncayola, “A youth squad who grows day by day” and who in turn has other great footballers to look at like Darko, Oier or Iñigo Pérez.

During his time at Eintracht, Torró could only play 888 minutes of the maximum possible of 6120 in League. He remembers them as the “worst two years” of his career due to injuries sustained.

“I did not get continuity to play because he often felt discomfort. After operating on the pubis, the problems began. It was a tough stage, “he recalls.

“I had bad times, and David Abraham and Gonçalo Paciência were my two fundamental pillars. They supported me and I was fortunate to have their help, ”he says of the friends he met on his German adventure.

This season, injuries have haunted the player again, and he has only been able to play 11 of 23 possible matches, despite the fact that in recent days bad luck seems to have given him a break.

“It seems that the bad has already passed; I am perfectly, and I want to be available in most games to continue growing, “he says after being injured against Sevilla on matchday 9, thus missing the next 9 and returning to Granada on January 12.

Wait “excited” to get a good result against the Hispanics next Monday and thus prolong the current situation, assuming that they will face “one of the best current Spanish teams.”

The Valencian speaks of the good relationship that he has with his countrymen Rubén García and Nacho Vidal, companions with whom he enjoys his favorite dish, paella.

“This year I have learned to cook it, and they are delighted with my culinary level. Nacho is on it; Let's see if something sticks to him when he is by my side ”, the 24 rojillo laughs.

As for which Osasuna player seems funnier and funnier, Torró has no doubts: “Sergio Herrera. He's always in a good mood; it is a good element ”.

Besides cooking, the chess, tennis and walking around the Citadel of Pamplona are the activities that occupy his free time, recognizing that he is a “quiet” person who likes to be at home.
