Lucas Hernández in search of being indisputable against Alaba and Boateng

On March 27, 2019, Bayern made it official. The Council approved the 80 million expense for the termination clause of the contract that united Lucas Hernández and Atlético de Madrid. Having just won the World Cup and with star status for Simeone, the Frenchman was leaving to undergo surgery and be ready for 19/20. Lucas wanted to succeed in Bavaria and, although he has his weight in the group, his best version is still expected. Let it become indisputable.

Since he arrived, the good moment of his teammates has prevented him from taking the final leap to settle on defense. Being able to perform as a central or left back, Hansi Flick places Alaba and Boateng ahead for the center of the rear while the left wing is owned by a very young Alphonso Davies, who has stormed into untouchable.

After a first year weighed down by injuries (he was unemployed from late October to February) but full of successes, Lucas has been gaining importance as a 'wild card' from the bench due to his versatility alternating starts and exits from the bench. In just a few he is left without playing (eight of 27 days in the Bundesliga), but Lucas is not satisfied and wants to take the position in the final stretch of the campaign.

“The situation does not discourage him”

Since Le Parisien, his mother Laurence Py sheds light on Lucas's situation and his way of coping. “He would like to play more but it is a coach's decision. Injuries have weighed down on him and in the meantime, the team has won so it is not easy to change the lineup. LThe situation does not discourage you at all. He is mentally strong. It is not easy for him, but he says he will work harder to be a starter. His mentality does not change, “he says.

Flick has publicly appreciated his effort and professionalism and seems to trust him, even though he has players ahead of him at his position. Two of them, yes, are going to come out this summer.

The departure of Alaba and Boateng, who will not renew either, open the doors of the eleven to the French for next season. The departure of the Austrian and the German could mean that opportunity that they want so much and that they will have to win this season on the green in every opportunity offered by their coach. It will depend on Flick to see him this Wednesday or not in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. The Frenchman, to a greater or lesser extent, has played every game in this competition. Now, the level is complicated and it is time to show that you are ready to take the final step to take the reins of the Bavarian defense and show that every euro invested was worth it.
