Löw pays tribute to Sabella

Joachim Löw, Germany coach, regretted this Wednesday the death of former Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella, his rival in the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil (0-1 for the Germans), and paid him tribute by noting that he had managed to put together a harmonious team with the union of a lot of individual talent.

“The death of Alex Sabella saddens me. I only saw him personally once, in the final of Brazil 2014. But before, during the South American qualifiers for that World Cup, I had taken care of Argentina,” Löw said in statements collected by the Süddeutsche Munich Zeitung.

According to Löw, Sabella managed to create an incredible unit and team out of individuals and superstars with great technical quality.

“He brought organization and discipline, he was a calm and analytical man. He always seemed sovereign. A coach with an idea of the game. That is why I always had great respect for his work,” he said.

“After the final, despite his disappointment, he congratulated me immediately. He will always remember that moment,” he added.
