The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán, met this Wednesday, prior to the start of the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah, with the coaches who practice their profession in Saudi Arabia, recognizing that they are “the best ambassadors”, so it is your “duty to listen to them.

“They are the best ambassadors of our country and a great reference for Spain in the world, so we have the duty to listen to you,” said the leader from Arabia in a “productive meeting” with the national technicians, whom he thanked for their presence. and the work of professionals in the Asian country.

Accompanied by the president of the national coaches, selectors and selectors committee, David Gutiérrez; the general secretary of the RFEF, Álvaro de Miguel; and part of his board of directors, Louzán first stressed to the technicians that “a new time” is arriving in the entity.

“We want a dynamic, competent, trained team that is in permanent contact with the group of coaches, because, among many other things, you open the way to job opportunities for many other compatriots who can work in Saudi Arabia and in other countries. places,” he added.

The RFEF wants to “enhance knowledge and mutual collaboration, in addition to reinforcing training actions” with Saudi Arabia, host of the Super Cup, thanks to “the hegemony of the Spanish model, current women’s world champion and European champion in the absolute men’s category.” .

During the meeting, the issues that were discussed were the daily vicissitudes in the work of the coaches, their contractual situations, the legal protection provided by the RFEF, the strategic plans that the organization is working on or the proposals for the future. by the technicians.

The RFEF recalled that, “with an exponential increase in recent years”, dozens of Spanish professionals currently work in Saudi sports entities and in the Arab country’s own Federation, in which the Catalan Lluís Cortés has served as women’s national coach since 2023. . In addition, there has been “outstanding growth” in women’s soccer in the Asian country “in terms of access, equality and technical quality.”
