Lorenzo Sonego and Laslo Djere will bid for the title in Cagliari

The Italian Lorenzo Sonego and the Serbian Laslo Djere, who already won on this stage last year, will play the final of Sardinia Open, in Cagliari, after beating in the semifinals, the American Taylor Fritz, first seed, and the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, respectively.

Sonego, 34 in the ATP rankings, is one step away from becoming the first Italian in fifteen years to achieve an ATP title on clay in his country. The transalpine is aiming for his second title after the one achieved in Antalya in 2019 after beating Fritz 6-4, 5-7 and 6-1 in two hours and 39 minutes.

Lorenzo Sonego, who faces the third final of his career, will play with Djere who overwhelmed Basilashvili 6-2, 6-0 in 52 minutes. The Balkan, 57 in the ATP ranking

The 25-year-old tennis player from Senta is aiming for his third success. He has won the two finals he has played, in Rio de Janeiro in 2019 and in Sardinia last year.
