“Lopetegui has to lead us back to glory”

The president of Seville, Jose Castro, has once again reiterated its confidence in Julen Lopetegui as project leader for the fourth consecutive season. There were their ups and downs between the parties and another path was proposed, but after the last meeting between the technician and Monchi, the waters returned to their course.

“The team didn’t play well in the last part of the league, we’ve all seen it. And I’m not going to be the one to give you the headline, but we believe in Lopetegui, we believe in Lopetegui, we believe in Lopetegui, three times so that they don’t have doubt. The team had moments, like in December, when we were fighting for the League against Madrid. We have been there and so has the Council. Not only did we not sell Diego Carlos but we brought Martial and Tecatito”, The president commented in a meeting with ‘Abc’.

“Lopetegui is the coach of Sevilla, he has achieved important goals, we believe in him and he has to lead us to glory again,” insisted Castro.

The Nervionense president is ambitious, he also recognizes that Sevilla was not up to the task in his last participation in the Champions League and expects more this season.

“We don’t know how to work without always trying to achieve greater goals. Then it will be achieved or not, but we are going to continue working with the way of being that we have so ambitious. One of the things that we have not done well this season is our participation in the Champions League, not We were up to the task. It’s the most demanding competition of all. We’ll play a more important role next season because we’ll have a better team and we can’t have more difficulties than in this one. The income from the Champions League is vital to have a better team, to maintain the staff and have other better ones”, he affirms.

Finally, he clarifies his previous comments about winning the League. “We do everything humanly possible to try to achieve the maximum, we say it with acts, with efforts, but winning a league in Spain is very difficult, we want to be in that nearby base camp, as happened this year. We want to be there to give that jump. I want to win the League, but it’s very difficult. It’s not going to be for not working hard, trying and achieving impossible things”.
