Lopetegui ditches rumours: “I’m where I want to be”

Julen Lopeteguidespite the rumours, he does not have his mind in the Premier League, but in continuing in the Sevillaa club with which he renewed and with which he has a contract until 2024. The Gipuzkoan coach has reiterated his commitment to the project despite the fact that the information from England linking him to Manchester United as one of the options had raised a certain stir.

“I have already transmitted it many times and I have said it. I am where I want to be, at Sevilla. I’m happy. Here I can develop my work in the best possible way. It is so, without a doubt. From then on, in football no one ever knows where he might be, because this goes around a lot, but I have no doubts. My will is firm. I am where I really want to be”, stated the Sevilla coach in an interview on ‘Abc’.

The sports director himself, days ago, had warned about the total confidence that the club has in the coach’s work, something that Lopetegui is grateful for: “I am very grateful for Monchi’s words. He knows more than me. It is a comment in which he marks the intentions, just as I mark them. But I have to prove all of that with my day-to-day work. In football, coaches and players are always put to the test, and we have to always be on our toes. Besides, it’s good that it’s always like this. We have to give our chest and be able to always live up to expectations, doing a good job. And in that line we will continue”.

Lopetegui insisted on the connection between Sevilla and the coach: “The confidence I feel in the club, from day one, is absolute. In that aspect, one is always grateful for all those kinds of comments like the one Monchi made and we try to return it, to correspond at all times with the daily work”.
