Loida Zabala, Betis or the Women's Universe Tour, awarded at the FDJ 'Sports + Social Gala'

MADRID, 14 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The weightlifter Loida Zabala, Betis and the 'Universe and Sports Tour' were some of the winners at the first 'Sports Gala +
Social' of the Young Sports Foundation (FDJ), which served to recognize the most relevant entities and projects this year in terms of values ​​and divided into five categories, to which a total of 102 proposals were submitted.

In addition, the 'Best Social and Inclusive Project' award went to
'Sport for refuge', promoted by 'Fútbol Más España' and which aims to generate safe and protected spaces for children and
young people, both of local and migrant origin, promoting well-being and inclusion through sport, with a strong gender and intercultural perspective.

The 'Impulse of Women's Sports' was for the 'Women's Universe Tour', an event promoted by 'OÉOÉ Marketing' and which has already visited 24 Spanish cities promoting women's sports as an instrument of recognition of the role of women in society in general. and the
sport in particular.

The 'Promotion of Grassroots Sports and Healthy Habits' recognition was awarded to the 'Nereu Program' of the Nereu Association and is aimed at promoting a change or maintenance of physical exercise and healthy eating habits in boys and girls who are obese/overweight. and/or sedentary lifestyle, and their families.

The Real Betis Balompié Foundation received the 'Promotion of Sustainable Sports' award for its 'Forever Green' project, a
sustainability platform aimed at companies and institutions that want to use the power of the most popular sport on the planet to help save it, raising awareness among the population about the current need to fight climate change.

The 'International Cooperation' award was awarded to the Ramón Grosso Foundation for its 'Chad Olympic Artistic Gymnastics Project', which aims to integrate, through sport, the participating girls in their school, at risk of exclusion. social, enabling them for a full adult life with opportunities.

Finally, the Special Prize 'Fundación Deporte Joven' was awarded to the Extremaduran Paralympic weightlifter Loida Zabala, in recognition of her career and sporting successes, and as a reference for
the values ​​of sport.

“These awards celebrate the power of sport as a vehicle for social change and therefore public sports policies are aimed at ending inequalities because they are fundamental. We are fully aware that sport constitutes a unique platform to transmit values ​​such as work in team, mutual respect and tolerance,” said Fernando Molinero, general director of Sports of the CSD and vice president of the Young Sports Foundation.

The manager recalled that “with these awards a new chapter opens” in which they celebrate sport “not only for its competitive successes, but also for its ability to generate a positive and lasting social impact.”

For his part, the general director of the FDJ, Félix Jordán de Urríes, pointed out that they always talk about “making visible and recognizing” and that with this first gala they had achieved this “objective of making visible and valuing this sport that is not a end in itself, but is a transformative tool for society.

“These 102 proposals that we have received in this first edition,
They are a sample of this. People, whether they are athletes or not; Entities, whether sports or not, have a common denominator in this work, which is the use of physical activity, of sport, and its usefulness,” he concluded.
