Lloris: “We just don’t have to regret having wasted the first part”

MADRID, 18 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The goalkeeper of the French soccer team Hugo Lloris acknowledged that the only thing they can regret about the lost World Cup final in Qatar this Sunday is “having wasted” the first part, and praised that his team did not give up at any time.

“The only regret we can have is that we wasted our first half. Despite that, we didn’t give up, we believed in it until the end. It was decided on penalties and it’s always cruel to be on the wrong side, but we gave it our all from start to finish in this World Cup”, Lloris admitted after the game at the ‘RTL’ microphone.

The ‘bleu’ captain insisted that despite the 2-0 draw they continued to “believe until the end” and were able to “turn the game around”, lamenting the opportunity for Kolo Muani at the end of extra time. “We must congratulate the Argentines who have had a great tournament and a great final. The match could have gone one way or the other,” he said.

On the other hand, the goalkeeper avoided talking about his international future. “This is not the moment to answer these questions. It is a painful night for all the players, the coaching staff, the board and all the fans. It will take some time for everyone to digest it,” he said.
