Liverpool topple City in the FA Cup final

Klopp drops (2-3) to Guardiola to opt for a full history of titles

MADRID, 16 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Liverpool beat Manchester City (2-3) this Saturday to access the FA Cup final, in another vibrant match between the two contenders to win the Premier, also alive in the Champions League, where they will face Chelsea or Crystal Palace.

The ‘red’ team is enjoying a peak moment in its successful era with Jürgen Klopp, in which it has already been champion of England and Europe. The German coach once again has his machine well oiled to opt for all the titles of the season, already champion of the League Cup two months ago also at Wembley.

After an entertaining 2-2 in the Premier last week, with which City kept the league lead by one point, the oldest competition in the world brought another chapter between the two that became ‘red’ in the first part, with 0-3 at halftime. Konate, on a corner kick, put Klopp’s men ahead.

The pressure from Liverpool bothered an orphaned City without a key player like Kevin De Bruyne, injured against Atlético de Madrid, and Mané made it 0-2 by squeezing goalkeeper Steffen, who fell asleep without forgiveness. Before the break, Mané again punished Guardiola’s men, in a great shot to a pass from the Spaniard Thiago.

City’s reaction was immediate after the restart and Grealish closed the gap. The sky-blue team grew until they were harassed but not knocked down, since the second did not arrive until the discount through Bernardo Silva. In those extra minutes, Guardiola’s team was able to tie with up to three good arrivals.

Fernandinho, Mahrez and Sterling had the option to extend the semi-final, and then Salah and Firmino were able to sentence, although Liverpool did not need it, which will be in the final on May 14, with the option today of winning a historic poker: champion of the Carabao, second in the Premier, in the semis of the Champions League and in the final of the FA Cup, who has not stepped foot since 2012 and has not won since 2006.
