MADRID, 31 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Liverpool beat Brighton (2-1) on matchday 30 of the Premier League and took advantage of the tie between Manchester City and Arsenal to take sole lead, with two more points than the Gunners and three more than the Citizens.
Jurgen Klopp’s team had a perfect Sunday despite the team from the south of England taking the lead after two minutes through Welbeck. There is still a lot of game to be played at Anfield and the home team reacted with Luis Díaz and Mo Salah.
The ‘red’ team celebrated an important victory since later, in Manchester, the other two contenders for the title met in a direct clash. Arsenal opted to shine the best defense in the Premier League and kept the local potential in check.
Pep Guardiola’s men had a lot of possession but barely connected with Kevin De Bruyne, while Erling Haaland had a nightmare with the London centre-backs. City, Real Madrid’s rival in the Champions League quarterfinals, had to change their disposition somewhat with an injury to Nathan Ake, who had headed the local chance.
Arsenal proved to be very dangerous without the ball, with the arrival of Gabriel Jesus. On the other side, neither Phil Foden nor Jeremy Doku appeared when the Englishman came on, and in the final stretch, with some more space, the goal did not come either or Arsenal’s goal was closer. After drawing with Liverpool, City was also left halfway with the other contender to take the throne from them.
