Liverpool, on the hunt for the lead with a pressured City

BARCELONA, 1 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

Liverpool opens day 30 of the Premier League this Saturday (1:30 p.m.) against Watford, with the aim of snatching the lead from a Manchester City that will visit Burnley (4:00 p.m.) with the added pressure of the ‘reds’, at one point away and forced to win to stay in contention for the championship.

Jurgen Klopp’s team will have the opportunity to place themselves provisionally in the lead if they win at Anfield against Watford in the relegation zone, in need of wins and three points from Everton, who marks salvation. The City will know how far the water reaches in its defense of a leadership that has lost strength.

In addition, the stoppage by selections of the last two weeks always brings surprises and also physical consequences. The Merseyside side can blame the tiredness of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, who scored the penalty to qualify Senegal for the World Cup in Qatar against his teammate.

Therefore, Watford can take advantage of the load of games in a key game to get out of the relegation zone. The team coached by veteran Roy Hodgson has not played a game since March 13 after beating Southampton (1-2), and did not play the last day against Everton due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

Manchester City will play an identical match to Liverpool, as they will face Burnley, nineteenth and one point behind Watford, also in the red zone of the table. Guardiola’s team drew their last game against Palace, with no room for error to defend first position.

Chelsea, with Real Madrid on the horizon, faces their match against Brentford with the aim of not opening the door to third place. Meanwhile, the other great fight in the Premier is that of fourth place, held by Arsenal with 54 points and a cushion.

Mikel Arteta’s men will close the day on Monday against Crystal Palace, knowing how far the pressure from Tottenham, United and West Ham will go. Antonio Conte’s men will play against a Newcastle that has lost strength in its escape from the lower zone.

For its part, United face Leicester, who have doubts about Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton, at Old Trafford after being eliminated in the ‘Champions’ against Atlético and with a victory since the end of February. West Ham, the most irregular of the contenders, hosts Everton on Sunday.
