Liverpool escape with a win and Bournemouth shines again at Old Trafford

MADRID 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Liverpool FC thrashed (3-6) on their visit to Tottenham Hotspur to regain their rhythm and even extend their lead in the Premier League, after Chelsea’s draw (0-0), second four points behind and with a game more, against Everton, while Andoni Iraola made trouble with Rúben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Arne Slot’s men regained all their strength after two draws in the league and before the traditional Christmas Boxing Day. The ‘red’ team will arrive at the Fiesta marathon with a good cushion, at the expense of a Tottenham team already struck down in the first half with goals from Luis Díaz, Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

In the second half it was Mo Salah’s turn, with a double to become Liverpool’s fourth all-time scorer (229), and Luis Díaz closed his own in a crazy match that the ‘Spurs’, with a lot of rotation and again failing In a Premier that they face in the middle of the table, they tried to make up.

Furthermore, the fight for European places tightened thanks to Bournemouth’s 0-3 victory at Old Trafford. In a ‘déjà vu’ of what happened a year ago, the team coached by the Spanish Andoni Iraola showed off its aim against the ‘red devils’, who with the Portuguese Rúben Amorim on their bench barely improve the stage of the Dutchman Erik ten Hag.

The Spanish nationalized center back Dean Huijsen scored the first on the half hour mark, with a header from a free kick that was like a corner. Justin Kluivert made it 0-2 with a penalty in the 61st minute and Antoine Semenyo sealed the sentence with another goal two minutes later, with a low left foot shot inside the Manchester United area, after a pass from Dango Ouattara.

Despite the danger later generated by the locals, Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga had worthwhile interventions to seal the victory for Bournemouth, which is fifth in the table with 28 points; For their part, the ‘red devils’ remain with 22 points in the intermediate zone.

A little further down is Everton, now with 16 points after a goalless draw against Chelsea. There was also prominence at Goodison Park for another Spanish goalkeeper, as Robert Sánchez denied the locals a bigger haul. Thus, the ‘blues’ saw their streak of eight victories in all competitions cut short and remain second with 35 points.
