Liverpool beat Everton in the derby and leave Benítez in the UVI

Liverpool showed who is the one who reigns right now in the city. The ‘reds’ had no mercy on Everton and took the Merseyside derby by a landslide, leaving Rafa Benítez on the brink of dismissal.

From the hand of a stellar Mohamed Salah, Klopp’s team took three points from Goodison Park to maintain the pulse for the leadership, and perhaps something more, as the Spanish coach (ex Liverpool) is in the UVI after a streak disastrous results (links 6 defeats and 2 draws since September 25).

Liverpool’s brilliant start

The derby came at opposite times for Everton and Liverpool. The ‘reds’ arrived in full swing at the meeting and showed it by jumping onto the field like a gale that passed over their rival citizen.

The ‘toffees’, in the midst of a crisis of results, could do little to prevent Henderson’s 0-1. The Liverpool captain beat Pickford with a left foot close to the post (9 ‘), a goal that marked the difference between the two teams.

Liverpool seemed satiated for a moment, but it just seemed so. As much as it could, Klopp’s team increased rents with a brilliant counterattack finished wonderfully by Salah (19 ‘).

Everton and Benítez were sinking. Proof of this was that many fans decided to leave the stadium so as not to witness an inevitable win. Nothing the ‘toffee’ did hurt an imperial Liverpool, but once again football was capricious and gave the locals a new opportunity.

Perhaps in the only defensive error of the ‘reds’, Everton managed to rejoin the game. Gray ran into a highway through the center of defense and managed to beat Alisson below the legs (38 ‘).

Although the joy was great, the goal hardly gave Benítez’s team a boost. Everton’s stalking was timid, perhaps controlled by a Liverpool that was not going to show any more weaknesses.

Salah breaks the match

Liverpool was going to break the match in a new one against Salah. But the Egyptian’s goal responded above all to what is being the Everton season.

A corner in favor ended with a calamitous error by Coleman, who gave the ball away and allowed Salah to be sentenced (65 ‘).

Diogo Jota’s 1-4 did nothing but generate a new rout in the stands of Goodison Park, although those who stayed until the end was more by booing a Benítez who seems to have the hours counted at Everton.
