Liverpool and Arsenal beat at the top and Chelsea surprises Manchester City

MADRID, 17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Liverpool and Arsenal beat Brentford (1-4) and Burnley (0-5) this Saturday, respectively, to extend their fight for the leadership of the English Premier League, during a matchday 25 where Chelsea tied in a surprising way during his visit to Manchester City (1-1).

The leader opened fire at the Community Stadium, where last year they had lost 3-1. However, and despite the injuries to Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota in the first half, this time Liverpool emerged victorious thanks to the skill of Darwin Núñez to score the 0-1 in the 35th minute and the success of Alexis Mac Allister to make 0-2 after the break.

Mohamed Salah scored the third for the 'reds' in the 68th minute, from a pass from Cody Gakpo, and in the final stretch Gakpo himself scored 1-4 to leave Ivan Toney's previous goal for the 'bees' as an anecdote. This victory left Liverpool with 57 points at the top of the Premier League, followed by an intractable Arsenal (55 points) on their visit to Turf Moor.

Two goals from Bukayo Saka channeled the 'little hand' of the team led by Mikel Arteta and left Burnley (13 pts.) in relegation. Another Spanish coach who smiled was Unai Emery, whose Aston Villa beat Fulham 1-2. A double from Ollie Watkins sealed that victory and put the 'villains' on 49 points; They are now fourth after overtaking Tottenham Hotspur (47 points), who lost at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

And above both in the standings, Manchester City remains with 53 points, which in the final stretch of its match against Chelsea saved a draw thanks to a goal from Rodri Hernández. Raheem Sterling had scored for the Blues near the break, with a cut-back on Kyle Walker following a counterattack guided by Nico Jackson.

From the rebound of a shot by Walker, in the 82nd minute, the 1-1 score was born, scored by Rodri with a powerful left foot shot inside the area. In stoppage time, Pep Guardiola's men claimed a penalty for a possible handball by Levi Colwill in a struggle with Rúben Dias, which however was finally left unpunished by the VAR.
