Lions miss out on World Rugby 7s Series Dubai quarter-final by 4 points

MADRID, 2 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s rugby 7s team failed to advance to the gold quarterfinals of the HSBC World Rugby 7s Series held in Dubai, after drawing against Ireland (21-21), losing to France (24-10) and beating Uganda ( 26-5), remaining 4 points apart in the average from going to the next round.

The Leones Seven will have to settle for fighting for 9th place next Saturday (6:44 am, peninsular time) against Uruguay, who was last classified in group B. The second date of the season began positively for Spain, signing a draw against the men who won the bronze last September at the World Cup in Cape Town. However, in the second match against France, despite putting up some very good rugby on the pitch, the Spanish ended up falling.

Finally, the victory against Uganda was not enough to break the tie for those with clover in the standings, who added four more points in average and left the Spanish team without the prize of playing in the next phase among the 8 best teams in the tournament.
