Villarreal gives forward Toko Ekambi to Olympique de Lyon for 4 million euros including the option to buy the cameroon for 15.5 million euros
Villarreal announced Monday the cession of Cameroon striker Toko Ekambi at Olympique Lyon for the remainder of the season in exchange for four million euros in an operation that includes a purchase option that initially is not mandatory but will happen if the French club finishes the League in European positions for the next campaign.
According to sources close to Villarreal, the payment for the transfer will be 15.5 million euros, that will be distributed in 11.5 in a first payment plus a bonus of 4 million for affordable objectives that occur during the cessation of the player.
In addition, in the event that Olympique finally acquired the player, Villarreal has also secured a percentage of a future transfer from the French club to another club.
This output is produced by the interest shown by the player to return to French football and to Olympique de Lyon, an option that the player valued as the only one that satisfied his interest in leaving the Castellón team.
Villarreal rejected a first offer of 12 million and transferred to Olympique that the starting price of the forward must be higher, so after a week of negotiation, the Lyon club increased its offer for the African player.
Ekambi, 27, arrived at Villarreal season and a half ago, after paying 18 million Euro to French Angers. After a year and a half in which he alternated the title with the substitution, Ekambi leaves the club after with 24 goals and 10 assists.
