Liga MX: up to a month and a half Mexican soccer would be stopped by the coronavirus

It's been a week already since the managers of Liga MX decided suspend Clausura 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although there is no definitive date for the resumption of the contest, the leaders work to couple the calendars with the other competitions in the world.

According to the site ESPN and the diary Recordd, Mexican soccer would be stopped for a month and a half more, He has been suspended from the 10th day, this after a meeting between managers by video call. However, it has not yet been considered to permanently cancel the tournament.

According to reports, there is no definitive date for the return to the court, but the leaders work together with the government entities to be able to define when the Mexican championship will restart. Everything will depend on the advance of the virus in the country.

Despite this panorama, there are three tentative days for the restart of Closing 2020. One would be the 15 th of May, the second would be the May 29 and the last one June 12. In addition, it is contemplated that they implement double dates to be able to match the calendars in both the Concacaf Champions League and the MX Cup.

At present, Mexico is in phase 2 of the coronavirus pandemic. Hugo López-Gatell, undersecretary of health, reported in a press conference that the country has not yet reached a turning point in the number of confirmed cases, which represents an opportunity to deal with the spread of cases on time.

According to the Ministry of Health (SSa), until this Tuesday, there are already 367 confirmed cases in Mexico of COVID-19, 826 suspected cases and 1,865 cases have been ruled out. Of the confirmed patients, 63% are men and 37% are women. 89% of the total are ambulatory and 11% are hospitalized.

Only in Mexico City are 60 infected with Covid-1923 of them are contagious by contact, that is, they were infected by being with people who suffer from it and imported it from countries where they traveled, such as the United States, Spain and Italy.

It should be noted that the virus has also touched Mexican soccer. Despite all the preventive measures, there are already two positive cases with this disease. One of them is that of Enrique Bonilla, president of Liga MX, who confirmed that he contracted coronavirus.

Through a press release, the Mexican soccer leader reported that he tested positive for coronavirus. "I want to communicate to you that after carrying out the pertinent studies on COVID-19 I have been positive ”, he pointed.

Bonilla added that it does not present serious symptoms, in spite of the tests carried out. However, he indicated that he will remain in isolation and will follow the instructions of the SSa.

This is the second case in Mexican soccer that has a COVID-19 case. The first was Alberto Marrero Díaz, president of Atlético de San LuisAlthough he was, he did present symptoms.

The tunera institution confirmed the positive of its president this Tuesday through a press release, which he published on his social networks. "You are hereby informed that our President, Alberto Marrero Díaz, presented symptoms related to COVID-19 ”, is read in the message.

The Atlético de Madrid subsidiary in Mexico indicated that, this Monday, March 16, Marrero Díaz underwent the test corresponding to the protocol issued by the Ministry of Health. In addition, he reported that they received the results this Tuesday and noted that they were positive.
