Liberty Seguros will donate 11,000 euros to the Paralympic Promises Team for the Liberty Race

MADRID, 13 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Liberty Seguros will donate around 11,000 euros as part of the proceeds of the fourteenth edition of the Liberty Race to the Paralympic Athletics Promises Team that bears its name, reports in a statement.

This initiative, launched in collaboration with the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE), aims to support young sports talents to be part of the Spanish Paralympic Team in future international competitions.

Since 2012, the Liberty Race has raised around 250,000 euros to support these young people. In this 2021 edition, held on December 3, of the total collected, more than 30,000 euros will be donated to various organizations in Europe in favor of the inclusion of people with disabilities.

The event, held on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and held virtually, was attended by more than 1,000 runners.

Under the motto #MovedbyValues, this sporting and solidarity event had a special character, since, for the first time, the rest of the European markets in which the insurer operates also participated: Portugal, Ireland and Northern Ireland.

All of them had from December 3 to Sunday 5 to travel the chosen distance (1.5 or 10 kilometers) and join the fundraising.

Likewise, the company announced that it hopes to celebrate its next Liberty Race for inclusion, again in person, in May 2022, and it will do so for the first time simultaneously on the streets of Madrid, Lisbon and Dublin.

As explained by Alberto Jofre, managing director at CPE, Liberty Seguros is one of his “great traveling companions” within the Paralympic Family.

“More than a decade together, where it is worth highlighting the company’s enormous commitment to Paralympic sport and to people with disabilities. In addition, the support for the youngest, with the Team Promises project and these donations from the Liberty Race, they help them to be able to represent the Spanish Paralympic Team in major competitions “, he commented.

For his part, Juan Miguel Estallo, CEO of Liberty in the European market, explained how to support the full inclusion of people with disabilities and see how sport is able to break down these barriers and help them achieve this “is very gratifying.” “People are and will always be our main priority and working to achieve a more egalitarian and diverse society is the greatest commitment in which all of us who are part of Liberty are immersed,” he added.
