Letizia gives a feminist lesson in New York: “Give me your hand like a man”

This Wednesday, the queen also met with the Spanish ambassador to the United States, Santiago Cabanas. At the moment of greeting, she commented: “Give me your hand like a man.” The two held a meeting at the Cervantes Institute with leading Spanish cancer researchers.


The queen’s gesture has not gone unnoticed. Her feminist commitment is well known. Her agenda shows it. Since 2018, she has inaugurated each edition of the Santander WomenNOW Summit. In April of last year, for example, she also presided over the tribute to Clara Campoamor in the Congress of Deputies.

With acts like these, the mother of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía claims equality between women and men and female empowerment. Her involvement against cancer, rare diseases or Alzheimer’s, among other causes, also stands out on her agenda.
