The guard-guard Leticia Romero is the last discard of the women’s basketball coach, Miguel Méndez, for the Eurobasket, which will be held from June 15 to 25 in Israel and Slovenia and to which the Spanish team will attend with 12 players.
“I want to thank Leticia for her presence here until the end without losing her professionalism. Being the last discard is never easy and she has been helping the team until the end. Added to the other players, Maria Eraunzetamurgil, Nerea Hermosa and Andrea Vilaró, they have made that the competitiveness that reigns in the group has made us a better team. They are part of our team until the end and, of course, for the future,” said Méndez.
The coach has determined the list after the tour of preparation matches, which ended with five wins and one loss. Silvia Domínguez, Maite Cazorla, Cristina Ouviña, Leonor Rodríguez, Queralt Casas, Laura Quevedo, María Conde, Alba Torrens, Paula Ginzo, Laura Gil, Raquel Carrera and Lola Pendande are the 12 players chosen to play the continental tournament.
In the call there are veteran players who already know what it is to get on the podium with the national team, such as Silvia Domínguez, Alba Torrens, Laura Gil, Cris Ouviña, Queralt Casas, Leonor Rodríguez, Laura Quevedo and María Conde; other younger ones who have already debuted at the 2021 Valencia European Championship, such as Maite Cazorla, Paula Ginzo and Raquel Carrera; and Lola Pendande, the only newcomer of this edition.
The team is already traveling to Tel-Aviv (Israel), where it will play the first phase of the Eurobasket. On June 15, Latvia will be measured (9:00 p.m.), Montenegro on the 16th (8:45 p.m.) and Greece on the 18th (8:45 p.m.), matches that can be followed live on Teledeporte.
