Leonor will present Carolina Marín with the Princess of Asturias of Sports: the champion who fell in love with badminton at the age of 8

The Spanish badminton player Carolina Marín has been awarded the Princess of Asturias Sports Award 2024, as announced by the award jury this Wednesday, May 8. Carolina, a 30-year-old native of Huelva, fell in love with badminton as a child. When she was 8 years old she already practiced it.

It was at the IES La Orden Recreational Club in his native Huelva where he began to play with the racket in hand. After achieving various victories at the regional level and several Spanish champion titles, at the age of 14 she was selected to enter the High Performance Center of the Higher Sports Council in Madrid. She moved to the capital and that center is where she trained. A long journey that has led her to become the best badminton player in the history of this sport in Spain and one of the best in the world.
