Leganés wants to reinforce its leadership by returning to the path of victory in La Romareda

MADRID, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

CD Leganés seeks to return to the path of victory this weekend in its visit to an injured Real Zaragoza, to maintain and consolidate its leadership, with a cushion of four points, while its pursuers Real Sporting and Real Valladolid will examine their candidacy for the direct promotion against Cartagena and Levante, respectively, on matchday 18 of LaLiga Hypermotion 2023-2024.

The ‘Segunda’ faces the last month of competition in 2023 and is already approaching the halfway point of the competition. This Friday (9:00 p.m.) Real Oviedo and RCD Espanyol will open matchday 18, in a duel in which the ‘parakeets’, having gone four games undefeated and fourth with 31 points, want to continue the pace of promotion and challenge for the lead. While the ‘carbayón’ team, with eight casualties and coming from losing, wants to move away from pessimism and get closer to the promotion positions, now six points away.

One of the highlights of Saturday (6:30 p.m.) is the commitment of leader Leganés with 11 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses and 36 points. The ‘pepineros’ visit Julio Velázquez’s Zaragoza, who still haven’t raised their head and have had three defeats and haven’t won since October 5. The Madrid team has just drawn against Racing de Ferrol (2-2), the second in a row, so the objective will be to return to the path of victory and continue with an advantage at the top of the table.

Those from the south of Madrid should be attentive to what Sporting de Gijón does before (16.15), which visits a bottom-placed Cartagena that has not won at home since last April. Opposite, an Asturian team, second four points behind Leganés, which has gone four games without losing away from El Molinón. Miguel Ángel Ramírez’s men have just beaten Eldense forcefully (2-9 to confirm that they are candidates to be at the top of the table.

Another that threatens Leganés’ dominance is Real Valladolid, who must also confirm that they can keep up with the ‘pepinero’ pace away from home. The ‘blanquivioletas’ arrive at an unbeatable moment, after three victories away from home in all competitions, although they have not won at the Ciutat since 2008.

However, the ‘granotas’ come from losing hard (2-4) against Racing, a wound at home that grew last weekend when they also lost against Eibar (3-1), to fall from the promotion positions after six games without winning.

They also want to continue their good dynamics with Elche on the rise, two points away from the fight for promotion, which visits Alcorcón, and Racing, with 27, which will have to overcome an irregular Mirandés in the middle of the table. The day will close on Monday with Villarreal ‘B’-Eibar, with the Castellón team fighting to get away from relegation and the ‘armeros’ immersed in the fight to be promoted to the top category.
