MADRID, 17 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Leganés thrashed Mirandés (4-0) this Sunday on matchday 31 of LaLiga Hypermotion to defend its leadership with authority, under the watch of Elche and Espanyol, who took the three points against Albacete (3-2) and Real Zaragoza (0-1).
The Pepinero team took advantage of the heat of Butarque to get serious as first in the table, in the midst of an irregular streak that has tightened the fight for direct promotion. Those from the south of Madrid recovered their best version to continue on pole in a final stretch that is supposed to be heart-stopping.
Diego García, with a double, Juan Cruz and Miguel de la Fuente redoubled the confidence of the ‘Lega’ in their return to Primera. The Madrid team added 56 points, compared to 53 for Elche and 52 for Espanyol. The team from Elche maintained second place and their great form against an Albacete team that did not fall into the relegation zone.
The victory of the locals at the Martínez Valero demonstrated the good line of a clear contender to return to First Division. Elche remained calm despite the fact that the La Mancha team took the lead after 10 minutes and, with ten minutes left, Manu Fuster scored again to make it 2-2. Mourad sealed the victory for Elche in the 80th minute.
In addition, Espanyol was left with the duel of new tenants on both benches against Zaragoza. A goal from Puado after seven minutes marked a victory that allowed the Catalans to closely follow the direct promotion zone, in addition to being the perfect debut for Manolo González. Not so for Víctor Fernández, with his Zaragoza in a game crisis and seven points above relegation.
For its part, Racing de Ferrol stopped its fall in the table to look back at the promotion zone, with a 2-0 defeat to Real Valladolid that failed in its option to even get close to second place. Nico Serrano, with a goal and a luxury assist to Iker Losada in the second, was the protagonist of A Malata’s resurgence.
