Lazio, fined 20,000 euros for racist songs against Balotelli

ROME, 8 Jan. (dpa / EP) –

The Italian Lazio has been fined 20,000 euros for the racist chants of some of his fans against Brescia striker Mario Balotelli during his recent Serie A match.

Last Sunday's game at the Mario Rigamonti Stadium in Brescia was interrupted briefly in the first half, after the Italian striker with Ghanaian roots called the referee's attention to the abusive chants.

Fans were warned through the public address system and Balotelli then posted an Instagram message that said: “Lazio fans who were in the stadium today, what a shame!” The Italian league has asked the federation (FIGC) to investigate the incident further.
