Lauren Hemp breaks the record for precocity in women and men

At a record pace. Lauren Hemp walks breaking records in his path and now he has given a new blow of authority by winning his fourth award for PFA Young Player of the Yearthus beating with its four awards a record that no one before, neither in men’s nor women’s football, had been able to achieve.

Hemp he first won the award in 2018 when he was playing for the Bristol City. The 21-year-old has now retained the trophy for the third consecutive campaign, a rare milestone.

It is the longest period in which a player, male or female, has won the award in consecutive seasons since it was first awarded in 1974, making her the PFA’s most decorated recipient of the award.

The winger scored 21 goals in 37 games for City in the current 2021-22 season. She finished the campaign as the top scorer for the English club, while her ten assists also helped her lead that section.

The 21-year-old surpassed Lauren James del Chelsea y Frida Maanum Arsenal, Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone, a Jessica Naz of Tottenham and to the defense of Brighton Maya Le Tissier.

“It’s an honor to win the trophy again. It makes it more important that it’s voted for by players I’ve played against and faced against,” he said, adding that “I also see a lot of them as role models, so It’s an honor to be chosen by them.”

“We have a fantastic squad: players who give me the ball in good positions and strikers who can finish the crosses that I put wherever I put them,” said the player. “I’m going to keep working hard to make sure I’m on the right track,” she said.

“A fourth PFA Young Player of the Year award, and the third in a row, is an amazing feat. She fully deserves it for her hard work over the past four years at the Club,” explained the club’s coach,
