Laura Heredia makes history by qualifying for Paris 2024 in modern pentathlon

The Catalan Laura Heredia made history this Tuesday by winning the ticket for the Paris Games next year in modern pentathlon, she made history this Tuesday in Krakow, becoming the first woman to represent Spain in this sport at the Olympic level.

The Barcelonan, sister of Aleix Heredia, pentathlon Olympian in Tokyo 2020, qualified for the event in the French capital by finishing in third position in Group B with 1,112 points in the competition that is taking place at the European Games in Krakow ( Poland).

As reported by the COE, Heredia added 228 points in the fencing phase by winning four rounds; 267 in the 200m medley swim by stopping the clock at 2:21.94; and 617 in the laser run, after finishing the test with a time of 11:23.30, which put her among the 18 finalists.

The event in Poland distributes eight tickets in modern pentathlon, one per country, and the Catalan has benefited because there were only pentathletes from seven other countries, which has already given her an Olympic passport.

“I’m super excited. I’ve waited so long for this moment that I’m very happy right now. And being able to share it with my family is a dream,” said Heredia, who was bronze at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and who was already in Tokyo. 2020 where it was the first reservation.
