This Saturday, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía appeared for the first time at the Olympic Games to take over from King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, who had already settled in at the Marivent Palace. The sisters enjoyed the first doubles match between Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, which ended with victory over the Argentines Máximo González and Andrés Moltenin on the Philippe Chatrier court at Roland Garros.
Judging by the gestures seen during the more than two hours of competition, the Princess of Asturias and the Infanta had a great time. They were thrilled with every goal scored by Nadal and Alcaraz and had fun moments with a smile from ear to ear. What’s more, they enjoyed a private meeting with the leaders of the afternoon – Alcaraz and Nadal – which left some memorable snapshots.
The Royal Family itself shared on its social networks the images of that brief and shy moment that the sisters spent with the Spanish tennis players. Showing their usual naturalness and far from any kind of protocol, they greeted the athletes with two kisses and then had a little chat with them. Laughter, complicity and confidences. That’s how the four of them showed themselves in that meeting.
What is not yet known is how long the heiress to the Crown and the Infanta will stay in the City of Light and what institutional commitments they will have to accommodate. Meanwhile, the monarchs are in Palma de Mallorca, beginning their holiday period.
