Las Palmas shines and wins the derby although Alavés does not fail

MADRID, 27 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

UD Las Palmas prevailed (3-1) this Saturday against Tenerife on matchday 17 of LaLiga SmartBank, a light yellow derby to respond, in a direct promotion zone, to the triumph of leader Deportivo Alavés against Villarreal B (2 -0).

García Pimienta’s team took three points and something else in Gran Canaria, canceling out their neighbor and redoubling the enthusiasm of their fans. The derby started hot but little by little the dominance and prominence were yellow. Between Sergi and Marc Cardona, Alberto Moleiro and Jonathan Viera, Las Palmas generated a lot of danger.

Visiting goalkeeper Juan Soriano prevented a couple of goals but, when Tenerife seemed to have calmed the situation, Pejiño shot to make it 1-0. Moleiro continued his recital at the restart and the same for Pejiño who improved his first goal with another from further away (2-0).

Andone provided peace of mind that didn’t hurt at the end, because Ramis’ men made it 3-1 through Dauda, although already at 93′. Those from Las Palmas thus add 31 points to place second in the absence of what Burgos does against Zaragoza in the first game this Sunday, while those from La Laguna lose the rhythm of their last two victories still in the lower zone.

At the top of the table remains an Alavés that does not give up, eighth game in a row without losing, and that established itself at the top with 34 points. Although Villarreal B began the game dominating and reaching the rival goal, Collado’s shot against the crossbar from outside the area was not enough to knock down the leader. Luis García Plaza’s men managed to overcome Salva Sevilla’s penalty, after a cross from Guridi that hit Íñiguez’s hand.

Already in the second part the lack of rhythm and offensive fluidity continued to be the keynote of the match in Mendizorroza. Thus, it was necessary to wait until minute 85 for Benavídez to head a cross from Toni Moya and put the final 2-0. At the end of 90′, the visitor Mbacke was sent off for accusing the referee of a foul by Arana.

For their part, Málaga took a hard-fought victory (1-0) at La Rosaleda against Ponferradina to provisionally leave last place. Erik Morán’s own goal in the second half was enough for Pepe Mel’s men to return to winning ways after six games without doing so, embittering David Gallego’s debut as head of the Berciano bench.

In addition, an Albacete that is looking for the ‘Top 6’ beat Racing de Santander (2-1) at the Carlos Belmonte, thanks to goals from Maikel Mesa and Alcedo. Iñigo Vicente tied the match but the expulsions, first by Tienza and then by Aldasoro, ended up condemning the Cantabrians. Meanwhile, Oviedo beat Mirandés at the Carlos Tartiere, after scoring Borja Bastón’s solitary goal in the first half.
