Laporta: “The Super League continues”

Joan Laportapresident of Barçaremains convinced that the future of European football depends on the creation of the Superligaa project in which he has the support of the Real Madrid and the Juventus of Turin, and so he referred to during his interview with TVE. The Barça leader insisted that “the Super League is going ahead” but that they must find their fit so as not to harm the domestic leagues.

“With Florentino we speak, of course. We are in the Super League, we are promoting the Super League. That goes on. The Super League is a way to save European football. Fitting it into the football ecosystem, without destroying the state leagues. We have no interest in destroy these leagues because they are fundamental, apart from the attractiveness they have. We have to find the fit. Yes, we are promoting the Super League. It would be the most attractive competition in the world. We cannot let European football be in the hands of states that do not belong to the European Union. We repeat it ad nauseam. We have to continue along this path because otherwise it will be distorted and European football will not be sustainable. Clubs like Barça, Madrid or Juventus have a history and a track record and we are It has to be taken into account. We see little collaboration from UEFA in this regard. It is clear that City and PSG have a money-making machine, and we are fighting against that. Not only the three clubs what I say but others who are silent, but from behind they give us their support”, said Laportaaware that it will not be an easy task to promote the Superliga.

Joan Laporta was also asked about the possible agreement with the fund CVC y LaLiga for the transfer of part of the audiovisual rights and the Barça president pointed out that the conditions have improved but that they are also working on two other alternatives in case there is no final agreement.

“Among all of us we are making the maximum efforts to reach an agreement. I know that from LaLiga and from CVC they have improved our initial approach. We understood that conceptually it was a debt and we do not need more debt, we have a lot. We need income. I highly value the effort that is being made from LaLiga and CVC. If we do not reach an agreement, fortunately, we are working in parallel with two more levers, two more options to reverse the economic situation”, he sentenced Laporta.
