Laporta: “If Florentino hung a banner next to the Camp Nou, I don't know how I would take it”

Joan Laporta posed this noon proudly with the banner, of immense proportions, which he hung in Madrid as the beginning of his ‘tour’ through Spanish territory, a few hundred meters from the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. The candidate did not want to speak of provocation in the face of this initiative, although he acknowledged that if Florentino Pérez did it at the Camp Nou, he might be ‘angry’: “Florentino sure has taken it with sportsmanship, I know he has a good sense of humor. I don't know how I would handle it if Florentino put a sign next to the Camp Nou, I would have to see what exactly it says, but I think also with a sense of humor ”.

Laporta, who will be in Malaga and Granada tomorrow, wanted to highlight that with this initiative he wants to make it clear that his priority is to restore pride to Barcelona fans: “It is an action typical of our style, to restore pride to the fans. Ironically, being subtle, I think it is a skillful action.”

The former leader explained that despite hanging the canvas near the Bernabéu, “there is no intention of offending but only promoting our candidacy in Madrid”, adding that “there are Barça members in Madrid and I am looking for their votes.”

Laporta assured that Barcelona will soon be in the football elite again: “I will be back to be calm again, to be among the best again.”

For his part, Víctor Font replied to Laporta's initiative: “With this about the banners you are the fucking master, but the truth is that with banners neither the sporting nor the economic issue is solved, only with projects.”

Likewise, Laporta, in an interview with GolTV, insisted on his desire for Messi to continue at Barcelona: “My intention is that Messi stays and that his shirt is always that of Barça. Leo is not guided by money. I cannot conceive of a Barça without Messi. What Leo wants is to win the Champions League again.”

Regarding the future of Xavi, he stressed that “one day he will be a Barça coach, I don't know if in the long, short or medium term.”

And on the rival of the Champions, the PSG; “We are always favorites. A team that has Messi is always favorite for everything.”
