Lanús takes a point in his visit to the Venezuelan Metropolitans

The Argentine Lanús took a point from the payments of the Venezuelan Metropolitanos by drawing 0-0 this Thursday in the first day of group A of the Copa Sudamericana in a match played in Caracas.

With today’s equality, zone A was led by the Ecuadorian Barcelona with 3 points, Lanús and Metropolitanos follow with 1 and the bottom team without adding is the Uruguayan Wanderers.

In a rather slow game, the Metropolitans demonstrated their superiority as locals with more confrontation and greater scoring opportunities, at least four in the first half, over a single convincing one from the maroon team in the initial part.

For the Metropolitans, Carlos Sosa and Robinson Flores stood out in the first half, each with two shots that gave rhythm to the game played in the Olympic stadium of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV).

Sosa tried to open the scoring in the 13th minute with a shot saved from the left from outside the area, assisted by Darwin Gómez.

Another clear opportunity for the Metropolitans came in the 31st with the feet of Robinson Flores who offered a shot that grazed the left corner, but was stopped.

But, five minutes from the end of the first half, Lanús became active and winger Alexandro Bernabei finished off a shot from the center of the area at ground level that was intercepted by Venezuelan goalkeeper Giancarlo Schiavone.

In the upper part of the game, the garnet maintained the vitality of the end of the first half and dangerously approached the local goal on several occasions without specifying.

In the 80th minute, striker José López gave the Metropolitans a great scare by giving a shot with his left foot, from very close range, that went high and failed to enter.

Thus, Lanús broke its tradition of scoring goals in games in which it plays as a visitor, as it had been doing in the last seven games played in this condition.

The Argentines and the people from Caracas will face each other again on the closing day of the group stage, on May 26 at the Néstor Díaz Pérez stadium in Buenos Aires.
