Lampard responds to Klopp's dart

“We live in a world at the moment with a lot of uncertainty. For some clubs it seems less important how uncertain the future is. (They are) owned by countries, owned by oligarchs, that's the truth. We are a different club, ”Jürgen Klopp said recently in an interview on the BBC.

The Liverpool manager's criticism was directed -among other teams- towards Chelsea, which this summer has invested more than 250 million euros in signings despite the delicate economic situation that the pandemic has created.

Klopp's dart was answered on Sunday by Frank Lampard, who pointed out that Liverpool have also invested heavily in the past.

“The reality is that, apart from Leicester, which was an incredible story, most of the clubs that win the Premier today have signed well and signed at a fairly high level in terms of money. You can review the Liverpool players: Van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho, Keita, Mane, Salah. Incredible players who had a very high price. Liverpool have done it for a while, “said the Englishman.

A FIFA sanction prevented Chelsea from signing last summer, so the savings have been invested in this market.

“What we have done is get out of a ban and probably try to remedy the situation to help us improve. We know that Liverpool have gone to a great level. We know they have an incredible coach. We know they have incredible players. The really smart thing Liverpool have done is to believe in their coach and believe in his system for several years. It's a great story, but it's a story where they've spent money on players, ”Lampard said.
