MADRID, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, has participated in a LaLiga meeting in which several technological projects have been shared within the innovation process that the employers have been carrying out for several seasons together to professional soccer clubs.
The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, explained that the incorporation of “talent” in LaLiga from the “most leading companies in the world”, Microsoft and Globant, has been “key in the culture of digitization”. “We are the most digitized sports institution in the world. Digitization is a right of all clubs, not just the big ones, and we are working together on it,” he said.
LaLiga’s projects seek, among other things, “to grow the local and global community of fans, improve their experience, create new technological infrastructures, or improve sports performance thanks to technology and data analysis”. The CEO of LaLiga Tech, Alejandro Scannapieco, assured that the objective is to “accelerate and evolve” the project to become a “world benchmark in the reinvention of sport and entertainment”.
“For policy action in Europe, making the most of innovation in and through sport is a top priority. LaLiga and Spanish football teams have been the first to adopt high-tech innovations. I am convinced that they will have spillover effects and transformers. It is something that is absolutely in line with our vision and the efforts undertaken in the New European Innovation Agenda”, said Mariya Gabriel.
For his part, the director of Technology and Digital Development at Atlético de Madrid, René Abril, stressed that they must “not only build a football stadium but a technological city”. “We created a multi-service network as a starting point that serves multiple mobile operators, broadcasters and amateurs,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the vice president of Sevilla FC, José María del Nido, highlighted that “one of the pillars is digitization to reach fans and improve their experience, grow our brand efficiently and sustainably to optimize and create new sources of income” .
In addition, the general director of Real Betis, Federico Martínez, explained that they hope, with “sustainability as their flag”, “to improve competitiveness to prepare for the future with the efficient use of technology”, and the director of the Presidency of Real Society, Andoni Iraola, pointed out that “technology and data is a strategic axis of all areas, sports, the business area and all forms of interaction with fans”.
Finally, the vice president of Cádiz, Manuel Contreras, also agreed on the objectives. “Among some of our objectives are connecting and growing the Cadista community, and technologically positioning the club as the axis of the business model,” he concluded.
