LaLiga ProPlayer bets on combining football and training in its fifth ‘showcase’

MADRID, 7 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga ProPlayer held in Madrid, for the fifth season, an exhibition with coaches from American universities, with the aim that they could evaluate, live, the talent of the soccer players who are candidates for a university scholarship to continue their sports and educational career in the United States Joined.

During this Wednesday, 35 homegrown players from different clubs played a triangular match at the ESC LaLiga & NBA center in Madrid. There, 20 coaches from American universities looked at and wrote down the soccer players’ statistics to find out which of them would fit in best at their university.

This was the fifth ‘showcase’ for LaLiga ProPlayer, a project that began in the 2018-2019 season and which has already brought 120 LaLiga homegrown players, from more than 40 LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank clubs to 40 states, to enjoy of his studies in more than 80 American universities. In total, more than 10 million dollars contributed in scholarships and an average of 29,000 dollars of average scholarship per academic year.

LaLiga ProPlayer, a project led and promoted by LaLiga, together with AGM, is a comprehensive support program for lower-category footballers from LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank clubs -each club selecting a player voluntarily-, to help and facilitate obtaining scholarships at American universities, where he can combine his sports career and his academic training.

Before the matches began, all the players and coaches attended briefings in which Luis Gil, LaLiga’s Director of Competitions and Player’s Office, expressed his gratitude to those present and detailed the fundamental objective of this sports and training project.

“LaLiga ProPlayer is an example of the commitment of LaLiga and, in this case, of the Competition Area and the Player’s Office, to carry out the development of its own sports and training projects to export LaLiga methodology and combine two fundamental factors: the football quality and training. Doing it hand in hand with AGM is a guarantee of success and pride,” he said.

For his part, Óscar González, CEO of AGM, highlighted the great impact that this program is having among the clubs and the players trained in LaLiga teams. “Thanks to the support of LaLiga and the clubs, there is one more option so that the young people trained in the youth ranks of these teams can get the most out of their training in Spain, obtaining scholarships and training at universities in the United States,” he said. .

LaLiga ProPlayer is also a reference project that exemplifies the commitments crystallized in the 21-22 season, in the pioneering National Plan for the Optimization and Improvement of Youth Academy, which includes areas for improvement to take national grassroots football to a new level, with a structured plan that is born from the collective effort of the clubs and the knowledge exchange network developed in the Youth Academy Meetings since 2016.

The Plan, located within the LaLiga Impulse strategy, includes several areas of intervention, including a differential, Comprehensive Player Assistance. The key goal of this plot is to promote the holistic training of players, including the academic aspect, an objective that programs such as LaLiga ProPlayer help to achieve.
