LaLiga launches the ‘LaLiga vs racism’ platform to educate and act against racist behavior

MADRID, 11 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga and its clubs have launched ‘LaLiga vs racism’, a platform designed to work “for the eradication of racism in the field of football” and which seeks to “continue with the work of education, prevention and action, to stop violent behaviors and attitudes and hate at all levels”, adding to other initiatives in this regard launched other seasons.

The employers have explained that they will continue to develop numerous initiatives launched in previous seasons, which have to do with prevention and training in matters of violence and tolerance, as well as in rejecting and denouncing any type of violent or hate act. that occurs inside or outside the stadiums.

‘LaLiga vs racismo’ (www.laligavsracismo.com) will bring together all the actions promoted by LaLiga against violence and intolerance and will help to “reinforce the strength of the institution in its fight against racism, creating a space in which to share projects and resources, make initiatives visible and join forces for this common goal”.

The website includes direct access to the LaLiga reporting channel, so that anyone can alert them in the event of witnessing a violent or discriminatory act inside or outside the stadiums. ‘LaLiga vs racism’ has been communicated to institutions, sports associations and competitions, including CSD, CEOE, ADESP, town halls and autonomous communities, United Hobbies, AFE, Liga F, LNFS or ACB, among others.

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, recalled that racism has “always occupied and worried” them. “‘LaLiga vs racismo’ is going to help us go even further in our fight against racism and intolerance in football. We take another step in what we have been denouncing for years, now more globally, with greater participation of clubs, fans, sponsors and, we hope, also of the institutions”, he indicated.

As part of ‘LaLiga vs racism’, both the institution and the clubs will start the season with global initiatives in favor of tolerance, respect and inclusion. It is a campaign that can be seen both in the stadiums and through the television broadcast, in its national and international signal. This initiative will be centered on three pillars: stationary billboards in stadiums, stickers on seats and captain’s armbands.

Thus, posters will be installed in all fields, adapted to each of the LaLiga clubs, in order to remind fans that ending racism is everyone’s business and that they are a key element in achieving it. The documents will include a QR code that will redirect directly to the reporting channel (https://canalcomunicaciones.laliga.com/stopracismo) and seek to sensitize fans on their access to the stadium and even the stands.

Complaint stickers will also be placed to promote a safe environment and allow fans to actively contribute to the fight against racism. These stickers will include an awareness-raising message and a QR code that will also redirect to the LaLiga reporting channel (https://canalcomunicaciones.laliga.com/stopracismo).

Lastly, personalized captain’s armbands will be produced for each club that read ‘LaLiga vs racism’. 126,000 units will be distributed in the stadiums of the teams that play at home in the first days, inviting fans to “be team captains against hate and racism, protecting their stadium in the first person.”

In addition, for this Saturday’s match between Athletic Club and Real Madrid, a banner will be created on which an awareness message against hatred and intolerance will be launched.

Together with the creation of ‘LaLiga vs racism’, LaLiga will expand other of its actions against hate. For example, the information related to the fight against racism and violence has been reinforced in the Player’s Manual or the Fan’s Manual, carried out in collaboration with the Clubs’ Association of Supporters Clubs.

The reinforcement in the staff of match directors, the people responsible for detecting violent acts in the different matches, is also maintained. Among its work tools will be the sounds captured by the microphones arranged in the different stands, which already increased last season, and which seek to detect possible racist insults or violent comments by some fans.

Awareness campaigns will be carried out throughout the 2023-24 academic year, some of them through strategic partners such as EA Sports. Training will also continue in projects such as ‘Futura Afición’, as well as training within the dressing rooms of LaLiga clubs, hand in hand with the Office of Integrity and Security, to convey to the players the importance of maintaining an attitude Free from violence on and off the field.

In addition, LaLiga, within its powers and through the Legal and Integrity and Security departments, will continue to report to the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport, as well as to the Competition Committee of the RFEF, any type of violence that occurred inside and outside the stadiums. In the same way, it will denounce and appear as an accusation in any criminal proceeding related to violent acts that occurred in the field of football.

Apart from this, LaLiga has formally requested that Law 19/2007, of July 11, against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport and Law 39/2022, of December 30, of sport, to be able to have competences in the matter.
