LaLiga and the clubs will implement initiatives against racism and xenophobia for this day

MADRID, 30 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga and its First and Second Division clubs will carry out a special campaign against racism and xenophobia, through messages of awareness and promotion of tolerance, respect and equality.

According to a statement issued by the employers, Spanish football reinforces its commitment in its fight to eradicate the scourge of racism and xenophobia in society, “after the violent racist incidents of recent weeks”, for which different “awareness initiatives” this day.

With a view to the day that begins this Friday both in LaLiga Santander and in LaLiga Smartbank and which will last until Monday, different activations will be carried out through different media, such as video scoreboards, where the message ‘No to racism’ will be projected during the warm-up, before the matches start and at the break of the 21 matches of Spanish professional football.

In addition, a message against racism and xenophobia will be heard in the public address systems of these stadiums during the warm-up, before the start and at half-time. During the television broadcasts, the message ‘No to racism’ will appear next to the scoreboard of the time and result both in Spain and internationally.

In the center of all the fields there will also be a support prior to the start of the meeting and on the television ‘U’, messages against racism will also be posted.

These initiatives are promoted by the LaLiga Integrity and Security department, which has been trying to eradicate any type of violence inside and outside the Spanish professional football stadiums since its creation in the 2015-16 season.

Its objective, as they explain, “is zero violence in sport and for this different practices of prevention, detection and denunciation are carried out on each day”. These complaints are later transferred to the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport, and to the RFEF Competition Committee.

LaLiga denounces and even appears as an accusation for any criminal procedure that is related to violent acts that happen in its environment. This is also completed with other types of actions, such as training sessions.

Some examples are the training days for security guards in the stadiums that were developed together with the General Directorate of the Police, the creation of a Manual for Players and Fans to encourage respectful behavior and tolerance, or the ‘Together vs. Racism’ that LaLiga and EA Sports launched the 2021-22 season.

At the meeting held on September 22, the Permanent Commission of the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport asked LaLiga “to continue influencing, as up to now, the absolute rejection of racist behaviour, express joint and immediate condemnation, and actively collaborate in the identification of offenders”, something that the body that governs Spanish professional football is committed to doing.
