LaLiga Academy kicks off at the ESC LaLiga&NBA Center in Madrid

During the 22-23 academic year, it will welcome 37 young people from more than 20 countries such as Mexico, France, Lebanon, Poland or Japan

LaLiga Academy, the long-term academic and sports program for young soccer players, will host in Madrid the first students who will train and study during the 2022-23 academic year at the ESC LaLiga&NBA Center.

The 37 young people from more than 20 different countries, including Mexico, France, Lebanon, Poland and Japan, will study at a school integrated into the Center and will train under the LaLiga Methodology with top-level coaches coordinated directly from the organization’s headquarters in Madrid.

Athletes, aged between 14 and 17, come to Madrid to promote the improvement of their abilities, focusing on excellence and the comprehensive development of their performance in both the academic and sports fields.

LaLiga Academy is the first annual program of its own that LaLiga launches in Spain, and joins the more than 550 grassroots sports projects in more than 43 countries that have been developed since 2015, combined within LaLiga Grassroots, the commitment launched in 2021 for the promotion of global grassroots football.

“Since 2015 we have trained more than 200,000 players around the world thanks to the LaLiga Methodology, a unique system focused on the holistic development of the player that includes 4 key areas: tactical-cognitive, technical-coordinative, physical-conditional and psychological -socio-affective. We already have 10 permanent academies in countries like Indonesia or the United States, but this project is special, due to the direct relationship with our headquarters and the contact with the ecosystem of LaLiga and its clubs”, assured Juan Florit, Head of Projects LaLiga sports.

“In addition, we have carried out Tryouts in countries such as Mexico, Puerto Rico or the United Arab Emirates, and two of the selected players have obtained full study scholarships that cover the entirety of their training stay in Spain. However, the program is open to all players looking to reach their full potential in a program and facilities that are unique in the world,” said Javier Hernández, Head of Business and International Development at LaLiga Grassroots.

LATEST GENERATION COMPLEX

The start of these programs in Spain coincides with the opening of the new ESC LaLiga&NBA complex, which has a residence for more than 400 people and 24-hour security, an international school equipped with an auditorium, library and laboratory, a clinic and several meeting rooms. games, rest and study.

Likewise, the complex has two state-of-the-art soccer fields and different training spaces, a gym and a swimming pool, and the NBA training pavilion is nearing completion, which will make it the ideal place to achieve union between sports training and academic pursuit of LaLiga Grassroots projects.

These facilities will also be available to all LaLiga clubs to carry out exclusive training programs, brand internationalization projects or other needs, in addition to having the LaLiga Academy Manager software, developed by LaLiga to optimize daily management and operation of quarries and academies.
