Laia Sanz: “It would be super good to reach 20 titles and finish off a brutal year”

BARCELONA, 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish trial and enduro pilot Laia Sanz (GasGas) can reach the Enduro title this weekend and, with it, the 20 absolute World Cups among the various categories, adding it to the trial of this same year “brutal” at the level of effort and also of results.

“It would be super good to reach 20 titles. The truth is that this year I did not imagine being able to win in Trial and arrive so well positioned at the last round of the Enduro World Championship, especially for everything I have been through. I hope to finish the work of a year brutal and super intense with a good result here, “he commented in statements provided by the team.

Sanz assured to arrive with “a lot of desire” to this final event of the Enduro World Championship. To conquer it, it is enough for her to be second in the two races, although she will not be co-formed with it. “Two second places are worth me, but I can’t get too confused. If I made a third it would complicate my life more, so I have to press from day one,” he warned.

“I can’t go out thinking much about the championship. I have to try to win on Saturday already to be able to face Sunday with more tranquility and not depend on the others,” said the Catalan, who highlighted the beauty of the route and its difficulty. “The stages are very cool, with a lot of grass, which is typical there and with a lot of counter-curved corners, which will add an extra technical challenge,” he said.

Although the Spanish driver does not want to think about what she can achieve on Sunday, she does make it clear that 2021 has been special, after competing in the Dakar Rally, the Baja Dubai in a buggy, the Andalucía Rally with a 4×4, the Extreme E (still to be concluded), last weekend’s test in the RX2e World Championship, the Trial World Championship and the Enduro World Championship.

Laia Sanz will compete in the last round of the 2021 season of the EnduroGP World Championship this coming weekend with the great goal of continuing to make history and of becoming the first woman to win 20 world titles on two wheels. The KH-7 pilot arrives as the leader of the competition, with 75 points and a difference of 8 and 9 points, respectively, over her main rivals, Mireia Badia and Jane Daniels.
